  1. Sewing machine: Nah, great to have, but I have one, and honestly, I don't use it all that often. Unless you've been wanting one like forever, I'd say buy yourself a treat you'll use more.
Courage to quit your job: Depends on how long you can live off the money you have. It's a tough market, kid :-P But if you could score a job at the children's hospital, I'd say go for it, gal! I can totally see you working with the kinder.
Digi SLR: Ask yourself how often you'll lug it around. Are you willing? Does your current non-SLR leave you particularly desiring more? If not, it's probs an unnecessary expenditure for you. Plus lenses are expensive, blah blah blah. If you DO decide to get one of these though, I'd say find one used. They're pretty expensive new.
R1100R: Sexayyy :-P Go for it. Will you sell the Vespa-rator? You probs don't need two scooters. Or do you? I don't know much about scooters :-P
Gold-plated manjo (or banjo?): Either way, go for it. Nice musical instruments are a worthwhile investment if you play them enough and have enough of an ear to care about the difference. And you've experienced high-quality banjo bliss, so if this is a nice banjo, which I'm assuming it is, you'll be reveling in the improved sound and feel every day you play :-)
A trip to the Canary Islands: If you can't think of any item that really pulls you towards buying it, I'd say go for this? Or don't, I mean, you're already going to Puerto Rico or something. Plus, if I were you, I'd totally pick a nice banjo over a 1-2 week vacation on the beach. But maybe that's cause my parents take me to Mexico every year :-P

  2. You know what your Dad's been saying ... get your "new" Vespa fixed!
Your practical Mom thinks you should get a new car, if not a brand new one, at least one with a working window and air conditioning.

  3. My vote would be the 6 long-necked sapphire blue, Japanese puffer fish! I hear they are very rare, very delicate.

  4. you could buy a sewing machine to use to make yourself a new cover for your futon...

  5. Anna, I can never buy awesome clothes if they don't fit just right because I don't have anything to mend larger projects with. And I suppose I don't want to quit my job, just maybe transfer. I want to learn how to take fancy photos and can now afford all the different parts that something like that requires R1100Rs are BMWs, and they are huuuuuge. Manjos, this one cuts it for a beginner, and I am still on Bluegrass Banjo Methods Book 1. As far as the Canaries, I think that would go along with quitting my job and it would mean moving there semi-permanently.

    Maj, no, no, and no.

Anonymous, I thought I got you some for your birthday. Are they so wonderful you think everyone should own these lovely little creatures?

Selena, if I cover my futon, how will I lure all the ladies?
